GiraffeLight Media is a literary agency founded by screenwriter, ghostwriter, and literary agent Stephanie Katz. It began in 2016 as a multimedia marketing agency for small businesses in South Louisiana before morphing into a full-fledged literary agency in 2022 based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
GiraffeLight represents fiction and nonfiction authors, as well as graphic novelists, to the Big Five publishing houses, their many respective imprints, and a wide number of independent traditional publishers in the US, UK, Canada, and more.
We help edit and evaluate manuscripts to get them up to publication standards; create individualized lists that match specific works to editors based on years of experience; create author pitch materials with detailed bios, title comps, and identification of target audiences to show sales potential; query editors based on our wide network of connections in the industry; negotiate publication deals, along with advances and subsidiaries; act as a liaison with publishers and PR agencies through publication release; and handle distribution of royalties to clients.

Stephanie Katz is an accomplished screenwriter, ghostwriter, and literary agent with a passion for crafting stories that resonate across genres and mediums. With a ten-year career spanning film and publishing, she has built a reputation for delivering compelling narratives that balance creative vision with commercial viability.
Stephanie has written on such films as The Blind and Average Joe, has ghostwritten projects including Average Joe and Trailer Park CEO, and represents talented and bestselling authors from around the US and the world. She has worked with such companies as PureFlix, Pinnacle Peak Pictures, Tread Lively, 10th Hour Media, GND Media Group, and more.
With a PhD in English Literature from The University of Birmingham in the UK, an MA from Arizona State University in film studies, and an undergraduate degree in Journalism from Southeastern Louisiana University, Katz has the industry knowledge in addition to lived experience in the entertainment industry and has made strong contacts in both the film and publishing worlds.
As a literary agent, she champions emerging and established writers, guiding projects from conception to release date and beyond. With a keen eye for market trends and an unwavering commitment to her clients’ artistic goals, Katz bridges the gap between art and industry—ensuring that every story she represents has the best possible opportunity to find its target audience.
